An example itinerary. It shows how a journey here can be shaped; it is not a fixed product, and yours would be designed around you.
Who it suits
People on a second visit, or a first visit who want none of the beaches. Walkers, eaters, and anyone who likes a landscape to be green. June to September, when the high pastures are open; late summer for the hazelnut harvest. It rains here, and the rain is the point.
Istanbul, nights one to three
The first afternoon empty, dinner on the water. The old city with a historian on the second morning. On the third day, Istanbul as the city eats: a breakfast that takes the morning and lunch where the tradesmen eat.
The Black Sea, nights four to eight
About an hour and three quarters by air to Trabzon, and your own car and driver from there. A day in the yaylas, the high summer pastures above the forest, with a family who spends the season there. A morning on the tea terraces above Rize. In late summer, a day of the hazelnut harvest with a family in the hills, and the lunch that follows it. Uzungöl in the mountains behind Trabzon, early, before the coaches. One monastery built into a cliff, if you want it, and we would say which.
Home
Back to Istanbul by air for the flight home, or a last night in the city if the times are kind.
What it includes
- The yaylas, above the clouds, with a family who summers there
- Tea terraces above Rize; the hazelnut harvest in late summer
- Green, wet, and almost nobody else from abroad
How it is private
- Pace
- Days are shaped around when you are at your best, not around opening hours.
- Privacy
- Your own car and driver. No shared transfers, no meeting points, no waiting for a group.
- One person
- The designer who writes your journey is the person you message while you are on it.
Making it yours
Longer or shorter, slower or fuller, with children or without, with another region added: everything here can change. Tell us who is travelling and we will redraw it.
The price of a journey depends on the season, the hotels and the number of people travelling, so it is written into your dossier, not printed here.
